At Muskogee County EMS our dispatchers go through a 2 to 3 month new hire orientation before being released to work without a Certified Training Officer (CTO). They spend time in a classroom setting as well as hands-on training on the dispatch floor. They will be trained in BLS (Basic Life Support) by our in-house American Heart Association Instructor.
During their training period, they will attend a 3-day Emergency Medical Dispatch (EMD) course. This course is provided by Medical Priority Dispatch of Salt Lake City, Utah. Muskogee County EMS is proud to have our very own Certified EMD Instructor, which allows us to host courses in Muskogee as needed.
Medical Priority Dispatch offers other courses throughout the United States.
